What about Samjhauta Express victims?

Letter December 02, 2012
Who will give justice to families of those who died in Samjhauta Express bombing?

KARACHI: Like America, India has also started twisting Pakistan’s arm by its continuous mantra of “Do more”, regarding the Mumbai attacks. Indian authorities want Pakistan to take action against those involved in the attacks in Mumbai and prosecute and punish them. But what is India doing itself regarding the attack on the Samjhauta Express, in which a colonel of the Indian army was involved? Both, the Indian government and media were quick to point their fingers towards Pakistan in the Samjhauta Express incident, in which 68 people died, mostly Pakistanis, but later it turned out that Hindu extremists were involved.

With Kasab’s execution, the families of those who died in the Mumbai attacks may have found some closure but what about the families of those who died in the bombing of the Samjhauta Express. Who will give them justice? And above all, why is the Pakistani government silent on this issue? When we talk about peace and other such initiatives, why do we forget the victims of the Samjhauta Express?
