We are forgetting tolerance and the openness to embrace criticism and difference of opinion.
ROTTERDAM: This is with reference to Ejaz Haider’s “The great non-debate!” (September 6). Splendid column that gives a balanced and unique way to transform and vent out frustration against all kinds of brutality reflected within our society. But we are forgetting tolerance and the openness to embrace criticism and difference of opinion even within the so-called academic and intellectual circles. It’s time that we should rather adhere ourselves to the noble words of French philosopher Voltaire : “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.”
