The rebranding of Hafiz Saeed

Letter November 24, 2012
If the Jamaatud Dawa is not harming anyone, including the writer, why the criticism?

ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to Ayesha Siddiqa’s article of November 19 titled “The rebranding of Hafiz Saeed”.

Jihad is a fundamental teaching of our religion and there are 164 verses on this issue in the Holy Quran. Is the writer suggesting that jihad is an alien concept in Islam? As for people in media being biased towards Hafiz Saeed, is that necessarily a crime? Don’t those who write columns on these pages also have their biases, and aren’t they, often, tilted towards one group or another?

Everyone in the world has a right to life and freedom of expression. This is mentioned in the UN charter. If the Jamaatud Dawa is not harming anyone, including the writer, why the criticism?

Muadat Hassan.
