I urge parliament and the provincial assemblies to kindly lay down criteria and procedure for naming national assets.
RAWALPINDI: Cities, roads and public-sector institutions are national assets, which belong to the people of Pakistan and are not the private property of any politician or political party in power. Names of these assets and landmarks often have a historical background and are mentioned in countless documents. Also, citizens have a certain attachment to the names of important landmarks. Great political leaders do not permit their names to be used for naming or renaming such landmarks and assets. I urge parliament and the provincial assemblies to kindly lay down criteria and procedure for naming national assets in conformity with wishes of the people, particularly the local residents.
