I would like to plead to mental health professionals to treat their not-so-sane patients with compassion and kindness.
LAHORE: I have been a psychiatric patient for the past 15 years. A well-known psychiatrist of Mayo Hospital, Lahore, has been trying to treat me for a year without any positive results forthcoming so far. Last weekend, my situation got worse and I set off a string of telephone calls to my doctor who hung up on me when I called him the second time. (It would be inappropriate on my part to quote the contents of the conversation that took place between us.) After that, my unfortunate attendants had to knock me down with sedatives.
Through this letter, I would like to plead to mental health professionals and request them to treat their not-so-sane patients with compassion and kindness.
