Mammogram machine

Letter November 06, 2012
The fact that a hospital of the standing of JPMC does not have a mammography machine is something quite distressing.

KARACHI: I am a breast cancer patient and need to have a mammogram done every year. I went to the radiology department of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Karachi, which is one of the largest government hospitals of the country. To my dismay, I found that there is no mammography machine in this hospital.

This is highly unfortunate as the incidence of breast cancer is on the rise in the country. Therefore, I request the authorities concerned to take action and show concern for the needs of cancer patients. The fact that a hospital of the standing of the JPMC does not have a mammography machine is something quite distressing. A mammography machine must be installed at the hospital as soon as possible to facilitate cancer patients like myself.
