Church attack

Letter October 24, 2012
Editorial should have also mentioned the consequences for the state and its people for indulging in such activities.

MOMBASA, KENYA: This is with reference to the editorial titled “Church attack” (October 23). If we look at the history of Islam, the notion of invading or destroying the worship places of other religions was never as common as it is at present in our country.

The editorial should have also mentioned the consequences for the state and its people for indulging in such activities and then not doing anything to redress the wrongs committed against non-Muslims in Pakistan.

On the one hand, the government has totally failed to protect the lives, properties and worship places of non-Muslims living in Pakistan. In some cases, the state itself seems to be involved in such practices. On the other hand, if non-Muslims wish to leave Pakistan to escape the persecution they feel they are being subjected to, even then the state does not seem to be happy with such developments.
