Writer ignores the possibility that TTP may be a foreign-funded mercenary force aiming to destabilise Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD: Shame on the The Express Tribune for publishing Mr Feisal H Naqvi’s article “Shame on you Mr Khan” (October 18), which used derogatory words such as “bullshit” to present a really confused narrative. Although the writer himself lays out the differences between the Afghan Taliban and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), he completely ignores even the possibility that the TTP may be a foreign-funded mercenary force aiming to destabilise Pakistan and whose actions are being used to pressure the country’s security forces to act against the Afghan Taliban.
The drone-driven cycle of death and destruction aimed solely at the Afghan Taliban creates innocent victims as well, who, incited by revenge, become the recruits of this mercenary army and swells their ranks to further destabilise Pakistan. It is astonishing how a qualified practitioner of law, which the writer seemingly is, can term these drone attacks a justified state tool. I am sure that the writer would also be able to unequivocally support extrajudicial killings where the judge, jury and executioner become one omnipotent entity.
Finally, the writer, in his eagerness to label Imran Khan a coward, forgets to mention that only he had the audacity of faith to break the reign of fear in Pakistan’s political scene by daring to go to Quetta and holding a rally there, publicly venturing into the drone-hit areas of Waziristan for peace and is now taking his fight against drones to the UN headquarters in New York. In the aftermath of the tragic Malala incident, he has shown the courage to decipher and speak the truth rather than get intimidated by media-driven frenzy and confusion.
