The British government must also freeze all bank accounts, if any, belonging to Mr Bilour and his family.
HALE, ALTRINCHAM, UK: The British government’s decision to impose restrictions on Railway Minister Ghulam Ahmed Bilour from travelling to the UK is a welcome one. Bilour, a controversial man, who is responsible for the destruction of the Pakistan Railways, indulged in cheap popularity tactics when he placed a bounty on the man responsible for making a blasphemous film on the Holy Prophet (pbuh) to please some fanatics.
While such a move by the British government is appropriate in accordance with British law, it would also serve the interest of inter-faith harmony if laws are enacted to ban hate speech, writings and films, which hurt feelings of people belonging to different faiths. The British government must also freeze all bank accounts, if any, belonging to Mr Bilour and his family in the UK and those who incite violence and cause deaths of thousands in other countries.
