Very few have directed the leadership’s attention to the environmental aftermath of the floods.
LAHORE: This is with reference to your editorial "The floods’ voiceless victims" (August 28). It is sad that we have very few environmentalists in Pakistan who have directed the leadership’s attention to the environmental aftermath of the floods. If the situation is not properly handled then many precious species might be on the brink of extinction. Many deaths are reported every day on TV as diseases have broken out in flood-hit reas. Livestock constitutes an important part of a common man's life because it is his sole source of income. The NDMA must focus on this facet of the disaster and all the provincial livestock departments need to bring themselves into action. Maybe this could solve the problem otherwise we will be importing livestock from other countries very soon.
