JUBAIL, SAUDI ARABIA: “To shoot a little girl in the head, inside your heart and soul must be dead,” this is what someone commented on social media after witnessing another proof of Taliban brutality. Malala Yousufzai is the girl who showed the world the ugly face of forces who took over the Swat valley in 2009. She maintained a diary during the dark days of Taliban rule, detailing their misdeeds, brutality towards girls and women and murders in broad daylight by hanging people who disobeyed them.
The Taliban had been after her for a long time and on October 9, they got the opportunity to take revenge from an innocent girl. I wish Taliban apologists, including those who, just a few days back, were leading a march to protest drone attacks, will now open their eyes. The Taliban are after every sane person in the region; if not stopped today, these Taliban apologists will also be on their hit list tomorrow.
Please join me in praying for the girl who is a symbol of braveness against the forces of darkness.
