LAHORE: This is with reference to the rising crime rate in Punjab. Few days ago, I parked my vehicle at the G1 market in Johar Town, Lahore and went to buy some household items. When I returned, my car was missing. I was astonished as there was a considerable number of people in the market at the time and the whole area was alive and bustling. There was even a police mobile present a few yards away. I immediately rushed to the policemen and told them about my missing car. I also went to the police station to get my complaint registered but the FIR was filed after two days following a lot of effort on my part.
The rising rate of crime in the province is alarming. Mobile snatchings and robberies have become a part of daily routine. A large majority of the people are not satisfied with the performance of the law-enforcement agencies. It seems that an organised group of criminals is active and involved in car thefts, as well as other crimes. There is a dire need to revamp and re-engineer the inefficient law-enforcement system to restore the trust of people in the police.
I request the inspector general of the Punjab police to help recover my white Toyota Corolla bearing the number LZF 8488, along with ensuring that others like me also get justice as soon as possible.
