When all traffic is brought to standstill for a VIP, the same could be done for an ambulance as well.
PESHAWAR: Recently, I saw an ambulance that was stuck in a traffic jam and then saw traffic wardens clearing the road within a matter of seconds. I found the whole scene highly disappointing. Disappointing because the road was cleared not for the ambulance, but for a VIP motorcade that had just arrived.
Is getting rid of this VIP culture really that impossible? Can’t we at least start treating a precious human life with the same degree of respect as we treat a VIP motorcade? When all traffic is brought to standstill for a VIP, the same could be done for an ambulance as well. If people can wait in traffic for long periods of time for VIPs to pass through, I am sure they will be more than happy to wait a few minutes to allow an ambulance to pass.
