It seems that the stage has been set for providing justification for the division of Sindh.
SUKKUR: There is a consensus across the country that if there is a need to create new provinces, it must be done only on administrative lines and not ethnic or linguistic basis. The local government ordinance issued on September 6, effectively divides Sindh into two different administrative units, where local governments of certain urban centres would be run in accordance with a particular system, while rural districts and towns will be administered through a separate system. It seems that the stage has been set for providing justification for the division of Sindh.
If ever there is a demand by those who resorted to wall-chalking in Karachi, it will be justified on the basis of this separate administrative system in the province. The people of Sindh gave a mandate to the PPP and unfortunately, this mandate is being abused by the party now. It seems as though the present government will make any compromise in order to remain in power, irrespective of the consequences or its fallout on the country.
