Blocking of Islamabad and Phulgran bridge

Letter August 29, 2012
The MNA and his family must not be allowed to paralyse this project.

ISLAMABAD: A bridge that connects Islamabad with rural Phulgran, constructed at a cost of millions of rupees, is almost 99 per cent complete. However, it has been blocked by the family of an MNA, who originally piloted this ambitious project. I appeal to the president ,the prime minister, the chief justice, the media and the Senate chairman (in whose constituency this high-handedness is taking place in broad daylight) to take note of this situation, which is harming the taxpayers of rural Islamabad.

The MNA and his family must not be allowed to paralyse this project. Is Phulgran part of Fata where the writ of the state does not exist? The family of the MNA concerned must explain its role in blocking the bridge, which took over three years to complete, in addition to millions of rupees paid by taxpayers for its construction. Is having concern for the public still part of our political dictionary?
