Indians, by nature, are not impulsive and will always take a long-term view of things in their national interest.
MADISON, WI, US: This is with reference to Tariq Fatemi’s article “Indian strategic thinking” (July 25). The majority of Indians consider China a threat but certainly not Pakistan. Pakistan, at best, is nothing more than an irritation. However, Indians are learning to deal with Chinese mind games. While the whole world takes Chinese dictations in hosting the Dalai Lama, India has been hosting him and his entire government in exile for the last 53 years.
Indians, by nature, are not impulsive and, therefore, will always take a long-term view of things in their national interest. As far as Indo-Pakistan relations are concerned, India will be friendly towards the common Pakistani people, but quite aggressive against jihadis out to harm India and all those who support such elements.
