KARACHI: Recently, the Karachi University administration increased the fare charged for making use of the transport service provided by the university. This was a decision that was suddenly sprung upon the student body and no prior information about it was given beforehand. Despite the decrease in prices of petroleum products, the university transport incharge increased the point fare by 100 per cent. At the same time, the transport incharge has failed to pay any attention to the deteriorating condition of the university buses. Students have to sit on worn out seats, i.e., if they get the opportunity to sit on them. Otherwise, more often than not, they have to spend most of their travel time standing as the buses are almost always overcrowded.
I request the university administration to reverse their decision regarding the increase in fare and do something about the poor condition of the buses.
