Impediments caused by the US can only be overcome through joint efforts by the countries of the region.
ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to Asad Rahim Khan’s article “The Russians are coming” (June 29). The Russian connection is most important if Pakistan has to overcome the present difficulties caused by the US occupation of Afghanistan. Apart from improving relations with Russia, better ties with India are also in the interests of other countries in the central Asian region. Good relations between the two neighbours can help develop trade and energy corridors that will benefit the people of the region.
In this regard, the impediments caused by the US can only be overcome through joint efforts by the countries of the region and Russia has a crucial role to play here. Overall, improvement in Pakistan-Russia ties is a very welcome development.
