Incompetence

Letter June 28, 2012
I am writing to highlight the problems being faced by those who were allotted flats in PHA Scheme.

TORONTO, CANADA: I am writing to highlight the problems being faced by those who were allotted flats in the Pakistan Housing Authority’s (PHA) Scheme, Islamabad. Under this scheme, flats in sector G 10/2, were allotted to middle class Pakistanis under category ‘D’, which is meant for the general public.

Each applicant submitted Rs3.5 million per flat in installments and in exchange, fully-constructed and further furnished flats should have been handed over to them in March 2012, which unfortunately did not happen. The month of July is now upon us but the flats remain incomplete and the furnishing work has been put on hold for months.

Also, after visiting the site, I have seen for myself the sub-standard quality of construction being employed, which can turn out to be quite dangerous for the residents in the future. This state of affairs just goes to show the level of negligence and possible corruption displayed by the PHA. I request the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the performance of the authorities concerned. Also, each applicant should be compensated for the delay in getting possession of the flats.
