Power riots in Punjab

Letter June 20, 2012
Those who are supposed to provide us with electricity are taking part in the protests against power outages.

VANCOUVER, CANADA: This is with reference to the story “I shall not tell police to stop power rioters, says CM” (June 20). I want to ask the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif that didn’t the Eighteenth Amendment make power generation a provincial subject? I have not seen any step towards it so far on the part of the Punjab government. Shahbaz Sharif’s government must stop shifting the blame on this issue or it will end up destroying the country.

Those who are supposed to provide us with electricity are taking part in the protests against power outages. Such actions are good for gaining political mileage but they will not result in a fruitful solution emerging on this serious issue.
