Longest-serving prime minister

Letter June 20, 2012
Who will now foot the bill for all the advertisements that stated that Mr Gilani was the longest serving PM?

KARACHI: Liaquat Ali Khan served as prime minister of Pakistan for four years, one month and one day. Till yesterday, Yousaf Raza Gilani had been claiming that he was the longest serving prime minister of the country, having served for four years, two months and two days in that office. At the time he made that claim, it did indeed stand true. Many expensive advertisements were placed in all the newspapers of the country, telling all and sundry about the longest serving PM of Pakistan.

The Supreme Court, through its historic judgment, has now declared that the prime minister’s post has remained vacant since April 26, which means that Liaquat Ali Khan remains the longest serving PM of Pakistan.

I would now like to ask the authorities concerned who will now foot the bill for all the advertisements that stated that Mr Gilani was the longest serving PM of Pakistan? I hope it is not the poor taxpayers like me, who will pay for this.
