TORONTO: This is with reference to Nadir Hassan’s articles “The real ‘mad men’” (June 14). We never seem to learn from mistakes. This article reminds me of the 1992 cricket World Cup final where Pakistan faced off against England. In the middle of the England innings, Wasim Akram took a wicket. Given that it was an important wicket, a replay would have been appropriate. But PTV chose to show us an ad, then another, and yet another one.
By the time, PTV returned to the match, another wicket had fallen the very next delivery. For a minute, it was extremely difficult to understand what had happened. Imagine the anger at having missed such a pivotal moment of the most important One-Day International in the country’s history. True to form, instead of remaining with the match, however, PTV immediately switched back to the ads.
