I found that in general the state of roads in upper and lower Sindh were terrible.
ISLAMABAD: Last week I had the opportunity to visit various cities, towns and villages in upper and lower Sindh, in particular in my home district of Larkana. I found that in general the state of roads in these areas was terrible — despite the fact that in many places the roads had been laid only recently. Clearly, this means that the contractors who built these roads used substandard material. However, what local authorities need to do is, to — at the very least — blacklist the contractors who did this so that the next time a road is built it has a reasonably long life. Obviously, this cannot happen on the scale that it does in much of the province with some kind of official connivance. The government, however, should realise that this blatant misuse of public funds needs to stop so that those who use the roads of Sindh can get a less bumpy ride.
