The FO on Dr Afridi verdict (II)

Letter May 26, 2012
I would say US is right in asking whether Pakistan considers capture, killing of bin Laden as against its interests.

DALLAS, TX, US: Dr Afridi worked and carried out the vaccination campaign in Abbottabad. The jurisdiction of the regular courts applies to the settled area of Abbottabad, not the FCR. Moreover, he was not allowed a lawyer to defend himself, which is a violation of his constitutional rights. Also, he was found guilty and thereby sentenced on the charges of  “waging war against the state”. How does running a vaccination campaign fall under this charge? I would say America is right in asking whether Pakistan considers the capture and killing of Osama bin Laden as something which is against its interests.
