KARACHI:
This is with regard to the problems faced by pedestrians on Tariq Road, one of Karachi’s busiest roads. Traffic jams caused on Tariq Road during rush hours are understandable, but on top of that undue problems are caused by the many hawkers and small stalls placed by shop owners either outside their shops, or on footpaths.
Footpaths on the road are already small to begin with, and the presence of these stalls further minimises the walking space for pedestrians, who are left with no choice but to walk on the road, which can be quite dangerous as it is teeming with heavy traffic.
I request the authorities concerned to look into this matter and mark strategic positioning points for these stalls so that the inconvenience caused to pedestrians is minimised. Not only will shoppers be able to move freely, the area in general will present an improved look.
