India has been in a difficult neighbourhood for the greater part of its history.
MADISON, WISCONSIN, USA: This is with reference to Talat Masood’s article “Flexing missile muscle” (May 1). How can India and Pakistan work seriously when Pakistan allegedly has no control over the so-called non-state actors working from its territory? Can Pakistan deliver on its promises?
India has been in a difficult neighbourhood for the greater part of its history. It has no options but to be ready to face any eventuality. The threat posed by China and Pakistan cannot be taken lightly as far as India is concerned. Ever since the 1962 war, Indians have stopped trusting the Chinese on security matters. Unless there is genuine change in the Pakistani and Chinese mindsets, India will continue to enhance its security apparatus.
