Prime minister’s conviction

Letter April 28, 2012
Convicted people are now being portrayed as heroes.

KARACHI: The way the judiciary has been maligned and ridiculed in the media in the contempt of court case is disappointing. Whenever the judiciary has tried to pursue corruption cases against certain politicians, the media has gone on the offensive against it. Convicted people are now being portrayed as heroes.

It seems that such people are devoid of all honour and are bent upon presenting themselves as victims. Playing with the people’s emotions is an old tactic, which is being employed once again. The media’s portrayal of the government as the victim has put immense pressure on the judiciary in not giving an even stricter sentence to the prime minister.
