The Jamaat-i-Islami’s recent declarations come as no surprise.
STOCKHOLM: This is with reference to Sami Shah’s article “Vulgar ignorance” (April 26). After the 9/11 attacks, the evangelical American pastor Jerry Falwell declared that it was the sinful lives of the Americans which brought the curse of the lord upon the Christians. Later, at the time of the 2005 earthquake, Maulana Israrul Haq was equally convinced that it was the sinful lives of the Pakistanis, which had brought God’s wrath upon them. The Jamaat-i-Islami’s recent declarations, therefore, come as no surprise.
It seems that all extremist mullahs, imams, preachers, rabbis, pastors, pandits, etc., get their training at the same institute, known as the campus ignoramus maximus.
