Loadshedding at Aladdin Park

Letter April 15, 2012
It will be good if the administration of the park installs a generator where the power is restored right away.

KARACHI: Recently I visited Aladdin Park in Karachi. Suddenly at around 8.30pm the electricity went off and it took at least a minute or more before power was restored. This meant that all the people who were on the rides had to wait — and a minute or two can seem a very long time when there is no power, especially if they are suspended in a ride a couple of feet high up from the ground.

The rides resumed functioning after a generator was started manually. A security staff member told me that loadshedding happens on a daily basis at the amusement park and each time it happens, this procedure is carried out.

It will be good if the administration of the park installs a generator where the power is restored right away, given that thousands of people visit it every day.
