Only option to avoid further armed conflict is for Pakistan to agree to some sort of line-of-control in Siachen.
MADISON, WISCONSIN, US: Siachen serves as a war laboratory for India. Most of the India-China border is climatically hostile an experience in Siachen will come handy during any conflict that may arise between the two countries. India has to maintain a high altitude warfare machine permanently. In view of these observations, India does not have much incentive to withdraw its troops from Siachen. The only option to avoid further armed conflict is for Pakistan to agree to some sort of line-of-control in Siachen like there is in Kashmir.
