I want to beg ‘patriotic’ political, military elite to spend taxpayers’ hard-earned money on welfare of country.
RAWALPINDI: This is with reference to Ejaz Haider’s article “Pious wishes and ugly reality” (April 11). As a Pakistani, we should accept that most of the armed conflicts that we have had with India were started by us and were fought only for the satisfaction of our so-called ‘honour’ without a solid strategy backing our military misadventures.
Given this situation, I want to beg the ‘patriotic’ political and military elite of the country to spend the taxpayers’ hard-earned money on the welfare of the country rather than on our ‘honour’. The citizens of this country do not even want to seek explanations for the various military misadventures that have been initiated on our side over the years; they are only begging our rulers to not indulge in such activities in the future.
