LAHORE: I would like to advise Imran Khan to take back the nomination of Javed Hashmi as president of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), since he is one of the alleged recipients of the money distributed — to politicians for forming the the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad against the Pakistan Peoples Party — by Younus Habib of Mehran Bank. The alleged involvement of one of PTI’s main leaders in the Mehran Bank scandal will be highly damaging to the party as it has a single point agenda of eliminating corruption. Javed Hashmi must clear his name before he is allowed to lead the PTI.
The majority of those who support the PTI belong to the young generation and have great expectations from the senior leadership of the party. However, many of the politicians who have recently joined the PTI are opportunists and have been active in politics for a long time without having done anything for the poor people of the country. There is still time for the party to encourage young people and give them key positions in the party, if it is really serious about changing the dysfunctional political system of the country.
