Crime thrives only in a city when corrupt police patronise the elements involved in such heinous crimes.
KARACHI: Karachi has often been termed one of the most dangerous cities of Asia, where criminal gangs reign supreme, while violence has been used to enforce political hegemony. Crime thrives only in a city when corrupt police and law enforcement officers and their political godfathers patronise the elements involved in such heinous crimes. It is a failure of our intelligence and prosecuting agencies, which by their incompetence or connivance with criminal elements, have put lives and properties of taxpaying citizens at risk. It is for the elected representatives of the people of Karachi and the provincial government to ask themselves whether they have delivered to those who elected them. I am afraid the answer is a big ‘no’. Their tall claims of serving the people of Karachi are nothing but rhetoric.
