The paradox of complexity (II)

Letter March 15, 2012
Is Imran Khan potentially better than Nawaz Sharif or President Zardari? Safe to answer this question in affirmative.

PESHAWAR: Corruption and tax-evasion are by far the core problems facing Pakistan today. If the only thing on the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) agenda had been its anti-Americanism, most of its supporters would have withdrawn their support for the party by now. The fact is that the PTI has brought issues like corruption to the forefront of the political discourse. When deciding who would be the best choice to lead Pakistan, I believe that only one question needs to be asked: Is Imran Khan potentially better than Nawaz Sharif or President Asif Zardari? I think it will be safe to answer this question in the affirmative. The crux of the problem with the latter two is their lack of will to tackle the core problems facing Pakistan. Therefore, instituting good governance will be a conflict of interest for them.
