The paradox of complexity

Letter March 15, 2012
Despite his passion and idealism, Imran appears to be ill-prepared to assume leadership of a country.

MONTREAL, CANADA: This is with reference to Ejaz Haider’s article “The paradox of complexity” (March 15). The writer provides Imran Khan with much food for thought. Despite his passion and idealism, Imran appears to be ill-prepared to assume leadership of a country which has been misgoverned for decades. There is veritable chaos in all spheres of life and a gargantuan effort is needed to bring some semblance of order. Denouncing corrupt politicians may be cathartic for the people, but it provides little by way of a vision for the future. Without liberating our youth from the poisonous ideas hammered into their minds by custodians of an unjust and corrupt status quo and without organising them into effective agents of change, they cannot act as avant-gardes for the constructive change that Imran is aspiring for. Harnessing the energies of the youth without preparing them first carries the risk of creating anarchy in the country.
