Bushra Zaidi’s death

Letter March 09, 2012
Bushra's father even went to the extent of forgiving the driver to help stop the violence.

KARACHI: The headline of your article “March 8: Bushra Zaidi, the woman who changed Karachi forever, by dying” was not right. Did the deceased ask the bus drivers to get in the race which resulted in her death? The poor girl lost her life for nothing. Political parties took advantage of the tragedy and gained political mileage for their own ends.

I remember very well that when the situation turned violent, Bushra Zaidi’s father appealed to the people of Karachi through television to calm down. He even went to the extent of forgiving the driver to help stop the violence. The article in question would have definitely brought back unpleasant memories for Bushra’s parents.
