KARACHI: Dreadful conditions prevail in what many consider to be one of Karachi’s most expensive and affluent residential areas, the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
There seems to be mismanagement, lack of planning, inefficiency and deliberate negligence, leading to problems for residents. This is particularly the case when a resident approaches the DHA with a complaint and which needs prompt redressal.
An example is of uncollected waste or a gutter on the road that needs to be unplugged. Problems that affect a larger number of houses include the digging of roads to lay pipelines or to recarpet them, which are then left dug up for a long period of time.
Is there any authority above DHA to ask it why it is not completing pending development work before initiating new commercial projects? I appeal to the residents of DHA who are so heavily taxed to wake up, join hands and arrest the alarming situation before more harm is done. DHA certainly owes an explanation to its residents.
