KARACHI: This is with reference to Haider Nizamani’s article of February 23 titled “States do let go off territories”, which itself was a response to an article by Ejaz Haider titled “Be strong, not hard” (February 22). I’m surprised that no one who has so far written on the subject even mentioned that the Balochistan Assembly, led by Mir Ghaus Bux Bizenjo (later governor of the province in 1972-73), unanimously decided to join the new country of Pakistan at the time of independence. Even India, supposedly the largest democracy in the world, is not letting the people of Kashmir have the right of self-determination (promised by no less a person than Jawaharlal Nehru).
