Imran Khan will not be able to have interstate relations with the world if he pursues an isolationist foreign policy.
LAHORE: This is with reference to Sami Shah’s article of February 16, titled, “Viva la what?”. I endorse the writer’s viewpoint that the PTI should have refrained and cautioned from sending its already-controversial representative Ijaz Chaudhry to the Difa-e-Pakistan Council rally in Karachi to present the party’s view point. The Council comprises of right wing and banned organisations, sectarian outfits and ultra-conservative individuals.
It is a noble thought for Imran Khan and the PTI to bring about a revolution. However, a revolution, sadly, shall not be brought about by the promotion of extremist causes (which is done if PTI leaders are going to attend rallies of the Council) or by including feudal elements like Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the party fold.
For a revolution to be brought about successfully, Pakistan needs to have viable interstate relations with all states in the world, including America and India. These relations need to be based on Pakistan’s interests and Imran Khan will not be able to achieve this if he pursues an isolationist foreign policy.
