Lawn tsunami

Letter February 09, 2012
Lawn was always supposed to be meant for the masses, so why is it sold at such ridiculously high prices?

LAHORE: I am writing this in response to the Tribune Take titled “Lawn tsunami to sweep Pakistan” published on February 8. While it is good to see that the fashion industry is developing in Pakistan, what is the whole point of over-hyping a fabric like lawn. I am sorry if I offend some people but lawn was always supposed to be meant for the masses, so why is it sold at such ridiculously high prices?

In any case most girls my age do not even want to wear lawn. They go for something trendy and different, some self-designed kurta, or perhaps a top, and so on.

The point I am trying to make is that while the creativity of those who make lawns is something to be appreciated, their marketing campaigns are too aggressive.
