If no strikes or unplanned holidays occur, we are left with 233 working days, averaging 1,398 hours every year.
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced 14 public holidays and 22 optional holidays for the provinces for 2012. If Saturdays and Sundays are counted, we spend 132 days at home every year. Unplanned holidays caused usually by strikes and law and order problems might increase this number to 140.
If no strikes or unplanned holidays occur during the year, we are left with 233 working days. On average, six hours a day (less lunch hours, prayer time, tea breaks, etc.) if this nation actually works, then we all would have worked 1,398 hours every year. How productively we use this time should matter a lot to us. And the irony is that we are not even close to being a developing country.
