HINSDALE, MA, US: Saroop Ijaz’s “Why speak for the Ahmadis?” (February 7) is a brave article. There are many issues that we speak about and make noise about — the recent morning show debacle being a case in point. But even those of us who feel so strongly, who agree with the words written above, find it hard to speak up in an atmosphere such as the one that is currently found in Pakistan. The idea should be simple, if you believe in standing up and speaking freely of what you think is right, you should allow the same courtesy to others. What is the point in making people agree to your views or opinions through the show of force or through fear? Hats off to Mr Ijaz, there is no point in getting inside the nitty gritty of the religious debate on this or any other issue. The point is to move beyond that and allow a just and safe place for all Pakistan is.
