Unsafe living

Letter February 06, 2012
The past two weeks have seen a sharp increase in crimes committed in Phase VII in DHA.

KARACHI: The past two weeks have seen a sharp increase in crimes committed in Phase VII in DHA, especially around the main road, Khayaban-e-Bahria. Despite being a very busy road there is an absolute lack of vigilance on part of either the police or the DHA vigilance staff.

Three residences have been robbed within a week. The police have not responded well and so the residents are being compelled to make their own arrangements.

What is disappointing is that local residents pay significant amounts to the DHA in terms of services fees but in return for that, the authority is unable to provide them with a service as basic as security.

As residents of the said locality, we implore the DHA to take immediate notice of these issues and arrange for some kind of security checkposts. These could be erected at major entrance and exit points, such as the Khayaban-e-Bahria/Ittehad junction.
