AMANZIMTOTI, SOUTH AFRICA: Your editorial “Acts of terror” of January 27 about the killings of Shias has strong arguments and its strong advocacy of the state doing all it can to catch and punish all those involved in such heinous acts should be admired.
Article 25 of the Constitution guarantees equality of all citizens before the law and does not differentiate between any gender or faith. But the reality on the ground tells us an entirely different story. If society, and those sitting in the elected assemblies, accept the right of every citizen of Pakistan, irrespective of caste, religion and gender, then ordinary citizens will also become more tolerant.
