Double standards

Letter January 28, 2012
Selective approach of not reacting when Taliban kill innocents compared to protest at drone attacks is unfortunate.

BLACKTOWN, AUSTRALIA: This is with reference to Kamran Shafi’s article of January 27 titled, “Making absolute fools of ourselves” When the Tehreek-e-Taliban carries out such killings no one in Pakistan raises any voice of protest. This selective approach to not reacting at all when the Taliban kill innocent people compared to the howls of protest every time there is a drone attack is most unfortunate.

Also, almost every week, in Balochistan, several people are abducted and turn up dead, yet there are no countrywide protests against this. When religious minorities are killed or harassed we do not see protests on a large-scale. Why do we have such double standards?
