The Muslim world is slowly waking up, but it will require patience dealing with leftist extremists.
TORONTO: This is with reference to Said Hindam’s article of January 26 titled “Egypt — one year after the revolution”. It is good of the Egyptians to get rid of the secularists. It is the same secularists who have now started moaning against the results of the democratic process which has resulted in the emergence of a majority in the new Egyptian parliament made up mostly of religious conservatives.
Incidentally, on these pages as well, there has been a lot of brouhaha by many of this country’s self-styled liberals about the upcoming triumph of secular liberalism in the Arab World. How wrong they were — like how they’re wrong about everything. The Muslim world is slowly waking up, but it will require patience dealing with leftist extremists.
