Embarrassing to know that authorities failed to notice the PM was driving a vehicle with an unauthentic number plate.
KARACHI: Using a fake license plate on a vehicle is a crime in all civilised countries including Pakistan. An important function of the traffic police is to ensure that they spot this crime and take action against the offenders. It is embarrassing for me to inform you, that you and your many hundred policemen failed to notice that the prime minister of Pakistan on January 19, was driving a vehicle with a number plate that several press reports, including one that was published in this newspaper, have said was not authentic.
If an ordinary citizen was to indulge in this unlawful act, it would be assumed that either the vehicle is stolen, smuggled, evading taxes or indulging in terrorism.
One would also like to know if there is a single person in the Islamabad police who would have the conscience or the courage to check this act of violation of the law.
