A dead society

Letter January 22, 2012
We appear to have drifted away from the core human values taught by Islam.

AMSTERDAM, OH, US: This is with reference to your editorial of January 21 titled “Captured land”. I think it can be safely said that we are now a dead society. I say this because we show complete apathy towards the religious minorities that live in our country and this goes against the very teachings of Islam. We appear to have drifted away from the core human values taught by Islam. It is a religion that provides an authentic basis for peaceful coexistence of diverse faiths but, unfortunately, we have seemingly turned a deaf ear to its teachings — especially those that relate to the giving of rights to minorities in a Muslim state.
