KARACHI: Kudos to Ms Imam for an excellent article that shows how things really work in Pakistan. Sadly most of the opposition to this kind of thinking and worldview comes from those bred on propaganda, much of which is found in the country’s mainstream media. What the prime minister has said, regardless of his own performance in the job, is indeed courageous. For the first time, in my lifetime at least, I have seen a politician showing the sense to call a spade a spade. And who will doubt the premise that in a democracy, the country’s military should be under the effective command and control of its civilian authority?
Like any developing country, Pakistan has its fair share of problems and challenges but that shouldn’t meant that we say ‘yes’ to military interventions. If you have a problem in your own home, the security guards do not take over and start running the house.
