The prime minister’s voice

Letter January 18, 2012
PPP wants to make a martyr of itself, so that it can win the next election, on public sympathies.

ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to Zainab Imam’s article of January 18 titled “Mr Prime Minister, I am with you”.

Where is the prime minister’s “voice” on the miseries of the poor of this country? Where is the prime minister’s “voice” when billions are lost on state-run white elephants like Pakistan Railways, PIA and Wapda? Where is the prime minister’s “voice” when dozens of people were losing their lives every day in Karachi in target killings?

Now that the elections are near, all of a sudden the prime minister is speaking of parliament’s supremacy. Of course, the strategy in this should be clear: that the PPP wants to make a martyr of itself, so that it can win the next election, on public sympathies.
